# IELTS Speaking Part 1: Walking (Sample answers)

## Sample Answer

1. How much walking do you do in your daily life?

Honestly, not that much. I work from home as a blogger, so I spend most of my day sitting in front of the computer. Apart from moving around the house, I don’t really walk a lot during the week.

- apart from = except for; besides
- blogger = a person who regularly writes and publishes content on a blog (website or online journal)

2. Did you walk more when you were at school than now?

Definitely, yes. When I was at school, I used to walk to school every day, and I also spent a lot of time playing with my friends. Most of our games involved walking or running, so I was much more active back then. Compared to that, now I walk far less.

- nvolved = included or made part of something
- active = physically energetic; moving around a lot rather than staying still

3. What places are there to go for a walk near where you live?

There are a couple of nice places. There’s a park not too far from my house, and I can also walk along the river. I try to make time at the weekend to go there because it helps me relax after sitting indoors all week.

- make time = to deliberately find free time for something despite being busy

4. Would you ever like to go on a walking holiday?

Yes, absolutely. I really like the idea of trekking holidays because they combine exercise with exploring nature. Right now, I don’t have enough time, but maybe in the future I’d love to go on one.

- trekking holidays = vacations that focus on long walks, usually in nature or mountains
- combine = to bring two or more things together into one
